Historian to Discuss Native Americans at Library Saturday (10/24)

This Saturday, October 24th at 11:00 AM. Free and Open to the Public! We hope to see you here.

Columbia based author Neal Fandek will give a presentation and talk on his new book, and explore Native American monuments at the Marshall Public Library.

Fandek will discuss his new book, Native American Monument of Missouri, which takes readers on a journey through 10,000 years of Missouri history, according to publisher Arcadia Publishing. Of particular interest to local residents is the book’s entry on Annie and Abel Van Meter State Park, where remnants of a Missouria Indian village offer a tangible connection to the region’s past.

Fandek brings a varied professional background to his work as a writer and historian. A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, he holds a master’s degree in education from the University of Missouri. His career has taken him from Wall Street and a nuclear power plant to magazine publishing and higher education. He has written extensively about Missouri and American history.
