What Can I Do With a Library Card?

Access to Collections

A Marshall Public Library card allows you to check out materials from our collection of thousands of books, eBooks, audiobooks, and DVDs. Your library card also grants you access to over 25 online databases and resources that cover a wide variety of topics like academic research, resume writing, financial literacy, health and wellness, researching your ancestors and beyond!

Computer Use and Events

Along with access to materials and information the Marshall Public Library offers a variety of programs, events, and story times for all ages throughout the year. We also provide printing, scanning, emailing, faxing, genealogical research, public use computers, and free WiFi in our building and parking lot 24 hours a day.

Age Restrictions

There is no minimum age for a child to apply for a library card, however children 17 years of age and under must have a parent or legal guardian’s approval to obtain a card.

Types of Card Available

Resident Card

Any person living within the city limits of Marshall, MO may obtain a library card free of charge by presenting a Government Issued picture ID along with proof of residency. If you reside outside the city limits of Marshall but own property within the city limits then you may obtain a library card free of charge by presenting proof of ownership of said property along with a Government issued picture ID.

Non-Resident Card

Persons living outside the city limits may obtain a library card by paying an annual fee of $25. That fee covers all members of the household. Non-residents over age 62 pay $20.

Saline County Student Card

Any K-12 student residing in Saline County but outside of the city limits of Marshall may obtain a library card free of charge by presenting proof of Saline County residency and enrollment in a Saline County School District. Students 17 & under will need a parent or guardian to sign them up for a card.

Saline County Educator Card

Any employee of a Saline County school district may obtain a card free of charge by presenting proof employment by a Saline County School District.

Temporary Card

A temporary card can be obtained by visitors to the Marshall area for a cost of $6.00 for a 12 week period. 

Missouri Valley College Student Card

Missouri Valley College students may obtain a library card free of charge if they bring in their MVC student ID. Cards must be renewed each semester.
